Looking Back at a Paris Birthday
I recently celebrated my 32nd(!) birthday. In 2013, I didn’t have time or energy to write about 30. In 2014, I didn’t have a functioning laptop while I was away to write about 31. But this year, for 32, I took the time to reflect – possibly because unlike 30 and 31, I’m feeling a little shaky about 32. I’ve had to think about that. Why has this number been bugging me? And I’ve realized that I am both nervous…

On the Go: Surviving Flugverspätungen a.k.a. Flight Delays
I was sitting in London City Airport yesterday waiting for my connecting flight back to Edinburgh from Munich, and my flight was, of course, delayed – surprise! Really, I wasn’t surprised, as delay seemed to be the theme of the Edinburgh/Munich travel legs. But the getting to Munich was ridiculous. There is no other way to describe that travel day as anything other than a big, giant cluster****. After the torrential rain woke me up way before my alarm,…

Clicking my heels three times
Today is my last morning in Scotland and Europe overall. I’m sad but excited at the same time because in an hour I am getting on a plane to start my journey home. I am ready. My laptop hard drive died back in mid-September (and the exchange rate and my budget deemed it too expensive to fix here) so everything I had drafted and intended to post and new things from the adventures since those have been…

To connect or not to connect?
I have spent the last week in one of the most beautiful places I have ever been to: Kythira Island in Greece. The purpose of my trip was for a Kundalini yoga teacher training retreat through Semperviva Yoga, which is a set of studios back home in Vancouver. It has been an AMAZING week. I come off the island having made a pack of fantastic new friends, eaten a lot of really good Greek food, and more…

An Early Start – First Stop, Denver
(Written while flying to the Mile High City on my first of three flights to get to Edinburgh.) Adjectives for today: Tired – I woke up at 3:00am at the hotel for my 6:25am flight. Going to sleep when it’s light out and waking up when it’s dark is a trippy experience. I was the only person on the 3:40am airport shuttle. Go figure, right? 😉 Frustrated – My checked bag was eight pounds overweight, which I…

Guest Post: London Calling – Ex-pat life and just going for it by Broad World
I recently had dinner with my friend Stef, who I hadn’t seen in years but had stayed connected with through the wonders of technology. Thank you, Facebook. Stef is one of the most adventurous people I know. (Who else would semi-randomly move to Ghana??) Her most recent adventure has been living in London the past two years. Stef is also a blogger*, so while we were having a proper catch up over a delicious Asian fusion dinner at Wild Rice (on…

Tokyo – Day 1 – Jet lag and randoms
Every time I travel, I always marvel at the whole time zone thing. It kicks my butt. After waking up at 4:30 am on Saturday to fly to Calgary in order to catch a connecting flight to Tokyo – Makes sense to Air Canada but still not to me… Though it did get us here earlier… – we landed in Japan on Sunday afternoon. With little sleep on the plane after an early morning, by the time…
