Ep. 60 – Emily dos Santos
Let’s talk about moving abroad, dropping timeline pressures and societal norms, and manifesting the life you want.
Well, it’s been a minute. But the good news is that you finally get to listen to this episode, featuring my lovely friend, brand strategist Emily dos Santos (formerly Kiloh). Like me, Emily recently followed her heart and ambitions to move abroad. I went east to England and she went south to Brazil. In this episode, we have a good chat about our experiences of an international move, how it turns out we manifested said moves, and living our best ex-pat lives. (Recorded Autumn 2022)
This episode’s girl talk:
- Emily’s top tips for moving abroad (make sure you write them down!)
- What we miss about Vancouver
- The quirks of living abroad and the benefits of being a Canadian
- Societal norms and the privileges we don’t always recognise
- Dropping the timeline of things we desire and manifesting the life we want
- Learning a new language and and the benefits of bilingualism (read the BBC article we chat about here)
- The ins and outs of applying for a visa in the UK or in Brazil
Emily is the founder of the Cool Mom 101 agency and podcast, as well as Rosa Media Co. No stranger to City Girl Talks — this is her third appearance! — she recorded this round of girl talk with me back in Autumn 2022. At the time she had a couple weeks to go in her second pregnancy and has since given birth to the adorable Kai. Connect with Emily on Instagram.
Emily is reading:
- Anything by Colleen Hoover
- The Last Mrs. Parrish (Liv Constantine)
- Think & Grow Rich (Napoleon HIll)
