Hike Like a Duchess: The reasonably hiking boots I bought to trek the UK countryside in comfort and style

    February 19, 2022 /

Fun fact: I lived in Vancouver my entire life and never owned a pair of hiking boots. Trail runners, yes. But it wasn't until moving to the UK that I finally bought proper boots. And who better to look to than the Duchess of Cambridge for some outdoor shoe inspiration? This is my review of the Berghaus Supalite II GTX hiking boots.

    #12DaysofHygge – Day 11: Getting Outside

    December 11, 2017 /

Hygge is about getting cozy and creating a warm atmosphere to enjoy the good things in life with good people. That includes getting outside to enjoy nature, whether on your own, or with those good people. Something I don’t do as much of as I would like!

Last hike of the summer – Dog Mountain

    September 20, 2017 /

Hello and happy autumn! Along with Mother Nature’s changing colour palette, the weather in Vancouver has become a bit cooler and the rain we are known for has been making a few appearances. So it’s a good thing the Brit and I got one last summer hike in this past Saturday; this time at Dog Mountain at Mount Seymour Provincial Park. The weather was beautiful and as much as I am not a morning person (especially not on the weekends), the scenery was absolutely worth getting up early for. If it’s a clear day, make sure you stop to take a photo of Mount Baker!

Tourist in My Town: My Favourite Metro Vancouver Summer Weekend Activities

    August 24, 2017 /

We were out and about last weekend and it occurred to me that it’s almost at the end of August. How did that sneak up so quickly?? Despite summer whooshing by, I can safely say that I’ve been properly enjoying my weekends playing tourist in my town. Having an ex-pat significant other makes for much discovery and re-discovery of my beautiful city of Vancouver.

Happy International Day of Yoga! Today is also the first day of summer a.k.a. the summer solstice. How and where will you get on the mat to salute the sun? 🧘🏻‍♀️ ☀️ ( 📸 @jjosuephotos) I’m not religious, so I don’t know that I believe in heaven. But I like to think there’s a place where our loved ones go when they leave us. Maybe it’s just a place in our heart, maybe it’s a really great patio situation in the sky, maybe it’s like The Good Place but a bit less weird. Wherever and whatever it is, I hope you have an excellent Beaujolais to sip on, a proper food pairing and good company. Happy birthday, Daddy. Cin cin. 🥂❤️ Ch-ch-ch-changes! Today is my last day as a full-time freelancer and as the Social Media Manager @bcaletrail. Working for the @bcaletrail is an opportunity that started in 2018 with some influencer stuff, then blogging and really just being available at the right time. A chance to get paid to promote things I'm passionate about (travel, craft beer, BC and supporting local) was one I had to take. Thank you @socially_monica for reaching out to me about all of these opportunities and for being a lovely mentor and friend. Fun fact: I grew up in Vancouver and never owned a pair of hiking boots... until moving to the UK. It took an international move and not wanting to get my trainers muddy in the countryside to buy a proper pair of boots. Figures. 😂 Mondays call for the big mug. ☕️ Cheers to activating my OOO and getting fully into jingle mode. 🍻 I was looking through photos yesterday and this photo reminded me that I missed sharing a little Manchester recap. This will always be a hard day. You have no idea how much we miss you. 💔 This is as close to wearing a costume as I get. 🐭 Happy Halloween, friends! Be safe, have fun, share joy. Spent the summer taking mask selfies in ornate mirrors, wandering estate gardens and brushing up on English history. And then I forgot to share the blog post in the midst of the chaos of moving houses. 🤦🏻‍♀️ Link in bio for my favourite stately homes in the Cambridge and Suffolk counties. #CanadianExpat
