The salon experience looks a little different these days, but it’s still just as fab a feeling to have your hair done. This is my pandemic haircut experience.

One of my favourite words is attraversiamo. Not ju One of my favourite words is attraversiamo. Not just because it sounds lovely and Italian is forever a language I keep coming back to learn on Duolingo — but because it's a word with meaning.

Attraversiamo means 'let's go across'. I've always looked at a new year like crossing a very important street, so this word has resonated with me since the first time I read 'Eat Pray Love'. (I also like to think of this word when a new angel, like my dad, gets to heaven or wherever it is that our loved ones go when they leave us.)

Not only have I — and everyone else — crossed into 2021 with great relief, but it will be a year where I literally go across the country and over an ocean to a new home... because we are moving to England! (Where I will also have to properly get used to looking right instead of left first to cross the street. 🙈 ) Visa approval pending, I will be on a plane this spring to move to Cambridge with the 🇬🇧.

No, a pandemic does not make for great timing to become an ex-pat, but there's never really perfect timing for anything in life. All we can do is wash our hands, wear a mask, and make space. And sell EVERYTHING.

And this is where I shamelessly tell you that we are in virtual garage sale mode, so if you're in Metro Vancouver or a 🇨🇦 Posher that needs/wants anything, click the LINK IN BIO to see the for sale list and listings. (House things, furniture, clothes, books, etc.) It will be updated daily with item listing links, etc.

Happy New Year, folks! I wish you the very best in this brand new — and hopefully more positive — year. We are strong, we are smart, we are

The man loved and respected wine like no one else I've met and I hope we can visit some of his favourite European wine destinations in 2021. 🤞

Happy New Year, Daddy. ✨ Happy New Year, everyone. It WILL be better. ❤ 🥂

Merry Christmas, everyone. Things look a little di Merry Christmas, everyone. Things look a little different this year, but nothing can take away KINDNESS, LOVE and RESILIENCE. Be safe. Share joy (on Zoom). Wear a mask. ❤️
Anyone else miss standing in line to check your su Anyone else miss standing in line to check your suitcase? I never thought I would say that. I haven't NOT travelled somewhere in years. It feels so strange... and it’s something I’ve grieved in 2020.

A year ago, today, we were checking in at YYJ to fly to California for a few weeks. We packed just one suitcase for the two of us, a backpack for the 🇬🇧, and a purse and backpack for me. (This was actually a really great way to pack!)

The UK — and likely from there to Portugal to explore one of my dad's favourite places — will be our next travel destination. Hopefully in 2021. (Vaccines, first!) 🤞

Where are you keen to hop on a plane to when we can properly and safely do that again?

What cheers you up? I made scones a few days ago a What cheers you up? I made scones a few days ago and it went a long way to cheer me up for a few reasons:

✨ It was ALMOST like going for afternoon tea
✨ I LOVE scones (and I've eaten more bread in 2020 than I have in almost a decade)
✨ The kitchen smelled amazing
✨ The Brit also enjoyed them — and that made me especially happy

Whatever is going on for you at the moment, I hope you can take some time to (safely and not in a way that will merit you a COVID violation fine...) do something that makes you happy.

What has cheered you up these last couple of months? Let's make a list of happy things in the comments below! 🙌
Yesterday, my handsome father, Joseph (Joe) Leopol Yesterday, my handsome father, Joseph (Joe) Leopold Klein passed away. He was 73. This summer he was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer, and he faced his diagnosis and treatment with a valiant, practical spirit and trademark dry humour. My amazing step-mum was with him when he left this world, and he and I were able to say our goodbyes. 'Cin-cin' was Joe's favourite clinking phrase, so for this last time: Cin-cin, Daddy. I love you. ❤️

Thank you to Richmond General Hospital staff for taking such good care of my father. You are dealing with a lot this year — please know you are appreciated.

For anyone who has experienced loss of any kind in this shitty year, I see you, I hear you, I feel you. Know that it's okay to not be okay. But also know that we will get through it.

It's officially official. 😷 Masks are now mand It's officially official. 😷 Masks are now mandatory in indoor public spaces across BC. Here's a little list of local to Vancouver and Canadian mask vendors selling reusable non-medical options (save and share with your IG fam!):

😷 @weaircanada - triple-layer, antimicrobial, adjustable ear elastic, for every purchase a tree is planted; DM me if you'd like a promo code! (Also, these are the only ones the 🇬🇧 will wear.)

😷 @daubanddesign - beautiful fabrics (including tie-dye), kid sizes, partial proceeds donated (These were the first masks I bought back in March — they are excellent.)

😷 @knixwear - water repellant, washable, adjustable ear elastic, patented fabric

😷 @sparrowpieces - fun fabrics, slot for a filter, wire is sewn in at nose bridge

😷 @stagefab - triple-layer, unisex fabrics, kid sizes; they make stage drapery, so you know they know fabric!

😷 @kasibamboo - made of bamboo and come with a filter, adjustable ear elastic, kid sizes (haven't tried these yet, but nice colours and good reviews); also sells filters and the mask are worn by @harbourair pilots

(All of the above ship across Canada; some internationally.)

😷 My favourite boutique @milaandpaige in New West has locally made masks for sale online or in-store.

😷 Your local dry cleaner or tailor is very likely making masks. Pick up one up with your newly cleaned dresses or jumpsuits that you'll be wearing to your Zoom xmas dinners.

Have you tried any of the above or do you have recommendations for local businesses in making masks in your city? Pop them in the comments below!

*NOTE: These are non-medical masks and cannot replace medical PPE (which is for the healthcare heroes). Wash your hands often and make sure to adhere to distancing guidelines. We’re all in this together!
