Ep. 35 – Nicole Harshey

Let’s talk about cooking, the power of yoga and finding our path with Vancouver chef and yogi Nicole Harshey.

In this episode, I chat with Vancouver chef and passionate foodie, Nicole Harshey. After many years of working in restaurants as a pastry chef and recently with Vancouver culinary shop Cook Culture as an instructor, Nicole started Cooking with Nicole to provide affordable meal plans for busy people. We chat about Nicole’s chef journey, flexitarian eating, the power of yoga, and finding our path. Nicole also shares a couple of easy (and tasty!) #GetThrifty recipes (24:30) for roasted chickpea caesar salad and patatas bravas, so get out your paper and pen! (Also, a hot tip about nuts.)

Following up on my commitment to sharing Black-owned businesses related to topics discussed in my episodes, I’m tagging some foodie, restaurant and nutrition accounts over @citygirltalks — bring your appetite!

Books we talk about in this episode:

June Book Club Selection: Reader’s choice of a novel written by a BIPOC and/or or with a BIPOC main character and that addresses racism. I am re-reading The Help as it is a book that affected me deeply when I first read it. To join book club and RSVP for the June 28 online discussion of our books, click here. This is a safe space for everyone to share their book and how it made them feel.

Episode Sponsor: This episode is sponsored by WeAir. WeAir is a Vancouver-based company that sells antimicrobial, reusable masks, with a focus on doing good in the world. For every mask bought, a tree is planted in an area in need of replanting. Listeners can use the code CITYGIRL20 for a 20% discount on the reusable masks. Stay safe to stay well with weair.ca
