VanDusen Gardens Double Date (Collab with travelorlabout!)

My friend and fellow blogger, Orla (from travelorlabout.com and the blog pod I belong to) and I have been talking about doing some collab stuff and I thought this time of year would be the perfect. She and her guy, Jack, are away from their families this year (as is The Brit), and I wanted to make sure they had some Christmas cheer. So we bundled up earlier in December to brave the drizzle and had a hygge double date at one of my favourite places to visit during the holiday season: VanDusen Gardens’ Festival of Lights (open until Jan 7 if you haven’t been yet!)

This wasn’t a great day for technology with my phone battery depleting while The Brit and I we out looking at murals, and Orla’s phone basically ate her photos. But between The Brit’s phone and Orla’s Nikon, we captured a nice evening out over some mulled wine and hot cocoa!

We live in a world now where we don’t really meet or communicate with people in the ‘traditional’ sense anymore. The Brit and I met on a dating site, and I have met several friends on Instagram, including Orla. Because of Facebook and What’sApp, I can connect with my friends all over the world, and see my best friend’s little girls grow up in Taiwan. But it’s nice to have human, in-person connection with people.

VanDusen Botanical Garden is located at 5151 Oak Street in Vancouver. Their Festival of Lights is on until January 7 so be sure to check it out, as well as some other holiday light venues that are still open!

Hope everyone had a safe and happy holiday season! Time to start setting goals for 2018!
